On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the ESU and Safeguards Team of the Department of Higher Education and Management, alongside representatives from the Department of State Property and Construction, and the World Bank, conducted a site inspection for the proposed construction of the Incubation and Training Building at the National University of Battambang. The primary objective of the inspection was to perform an initial assessment of the potential environmental and social impacts that may arise during the pre-construction, construction, and post-construction phases of the project.
The inspection was organized into two segments: first, the design team from the National University of Battambang provided an overview of the current condition of the selected site, along with a preliminary design concept for the new building. Following this, the team proceeded with the on-site inspection. Upon completion of the inspection, the ESU and Safeguards Team offered a series of recommendations to assist the university in developing a comprehensive environmental protection plan, which will serve as the next step in the project’s preparation.
