On November 30, 2024, the Civil Engineering Department of the National University of Battambang organized a study visit for 4th and 5th-year civil engineering students to the Techo Peace Museum construction project in Siem Reap Province. This project is funded by a grant from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) oversees the project, with technical consultancy provided by Oriental Consultants Global, and construction handled by SATO KOGYO CO., LTD, a Japanese company.
Interestingly, several alumni of the National University of Battambang’s Civil Engineering program are currently employed at this project site.
Following the visit, students gained several benefits, including:
- Understanding Company Background: Learning about the company’s history, achievements, and vision.
- Integrating Theory and Practice: Reflecting on the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical technical application.
- Technical Insights: Acquiring technical knowledge about site preparation and various construction methodologies.
- Safety Systems: Gaining knowledge about safety protocols at construction sites.
- Strengthening Connections: Building and strengthening ties between current students and alumni.
