On the afternoon of Thursday, December 5, 2024, the National University of Battambang warmly welcomed a delegation from Saint Petersburg State University, Russian Federation. The meeting was facilitated by the Russian Science and Culture Center under the Russian Embassy in Cambodia.

The discussion was presided over by His Excellency Sok Khorn, Rector of the National University of Battambang, and Mr. Sergey Dmitrenko, Director of the Institute of Linguistic Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences at Saint Petersburg State University.

The two universities deliberated on several key points, including:

• Establishing a Russian Language Center.
• Facilitating student and academic staff exchanges between the two universities.
• Developing a Khmer Language Bachelor’s program.
• Creating joint research projects focusing on Khmer language, arts, and culture.

These initiatives aim to pave the way for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities.
